Dr. Michael Cromartie is the Owner and Lead Consultant of The Cromartie Group, LLC, where he partners with educational organizations, leaders, and teams to strengthen leadership capacity, align systems, and achieve measurable, sustainable results.
With nearly 30 years of experience in public education, Dr. Cromartie brings a unique blend of executive leadership, policy expertise, and practical implementation to every engagement. Prior to retiring, he served as Superintendent of Goochland County Public Schools, one of Virginia’s top-performing school divisions. In 2025, Goochland was recognized as a Apple Distinguished District and recipient of multiple National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) awards. His leadership had driven meaningful gains in student achievement, advanced fiscal transparency, and elevated teacher compensation.

In addition to his executive leadership, Dr. Cromartie has served as Chief of Schools, Principal, and Adjunct Professor at Old Dominion University’s Darden College of Education, where he teaches strategic leadership, educational law, and policymaking.
He holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Policy, Planning, and Leadership from The College of William & Mary and is known for his transparent, inclusive, and results-driven leadership style.
